Agios Pavlos Hospital Thessaloniki

NEW YORK CITY,(USA)

This is a true story about an Greek 18 year old, and his experience with 3 doctors in the Agios Pavlos Hospital in Thessaloniki.

In August of 1999, doctor Ioannis Gianacopoulos diagnosed a young man with meniscus and advised it would be a simple surgery at worst. He first advised to get a scan done which they did and the scan showed positive signs of a tumor in the right knee. After the catscan was complete the results were presented to doctors Periklis Pappadopoulos and Parisis. Parisis then informed the parents of this young man that he would go into surgery in 2 days. The surgery would take no more than 1 hour . The surgery was performed by Periklis Pappadopoulos and Parisis on the Thursday August 26.

After coming out of the surgery room both doctors Periklis Pappadopoulos and doctor Parisis informed the parents that the surgery went fine and that there was a piece of cartilage removed that was sent for biopsy. The parents asked the doctor to take the cartilage to a personal biopsy specialist, but the doctors both refused and told the parents that the results would be back within a week. (the cover up)

The young man partially recovered and was released from the Agios Pavlos Hospital 2 weeks later. At that time the parents asked about the biopsy results and were told that the results have not returned from the lab.

After dozens of unreturned calls and two weeks, the parents returned to the hospital and demanded to see the 3 doctors.

The 3 doctors informed the parents that the biopsy returned positive for cancer and that they were sorry that there was nothing else that they could do. The parents were told that there was nothing that could be done to save the life of this young man.

Within 10 days the mother and young man were on a 747 bound for a hospital in NYC.

The doctors at a very respectable, highly specialized hospital in NYC confirmed that the surgery that was performed did more harm than good and that all could have been prevented.

This young man is now waiting for a knee replacement, thanks to the doctors in Agios Pavlos Hospital in Thessaloniki Greece.
